DMI at RSG meeting in Berlin
Dutch Marine Inspection is attended at the annual Recreational Sectorial Group (RSG) meeting which will be held on the 25th and 26th of April in Berlin. During these two days we conduct consultation with other European Notified Bodies. Agreements will be made concerning the application of the regulations relating to the Recreational Craft Directive.
DMI helps to increase security in yachting industry
Dutch Marine Inspection (DMI) has been asked to participate in the cluster "Safety in construction and maintenance of yachts." This cluster has been set up by Syntens BV and they have approached different companies in the yachting sector has to ask how the security within the sector can be increased. One of the mentioned issues was “creating good manuals”.
Since DMI has already an online system, Adriana, which can be used as an example, the yachtbuilders told Syntens to contact DMI. After consultation it was decided that Adriana is a good basis for the desired system. Together with ten companies from the yachting industry and Syntens will Adriana be further developed. The necessary investments can be made thanks to a subsidy arranged by Syntens.
On February 2d a first meeting was held with all parties involved. Central to this meeting was an inventory of the wishes from the yachting sector. All possible ideas will lead to a first set of essential requirements. In may this set of requirements will be implemented to test within the cluster. This summer the software will be available to entire yachting industry sector.
DMI first Notified Body that meets new requirements
Dutch Marine Inspection is the first Notified Body for pleasure crafts law in the Netherlands that meets the requirements of EA-2/17.
Last year, the Dutch Council of Accreditation (RvA) performed an assessment is carried out on Dutch Marine Inspection. The new accreditation requirements were tested as stated in EN 45011 and in accordance with the applicable interpretation and application documents, including the requirements of EA-2/17.
The requirements of EA-2/17 are designed to eliminate differences between accredited Notified Bodies designated by the European Union. They have agreed that at the 1st of January 2012 all Notified Bodies are assessed to these new requirements.
Presumably, the other Dutch Notified Bodies will soon also demonstrate that they meet these requirements.
