Komponent testleri

We do not only test and certify complete vessels, we also test en certify components for pleasure crafts.

For manufacturers of components this can be a great advantage: The safety and quality our their products can be proved. Many yachtbuilders even demand certified components.

For yachtbuilders certified components also give advantages. In most cases components that are already certified, do not have to be inspected again during the inspection of the entire vessel.

Dutch Marine Inspection can perform the following component tests:

Noise measurements
Since 2007 speedboats need to meet noise requirements. The manufacturer of engines with internal exhaust has already ensured that the sound of the engine remains within the maximum limit of 75 decibels.
But many engines have an external exhaust. The yachtbuilder has to design an exhaustsystem for these engines that fits all requirements. It is the responsibility of the yachtbuilder to ensure the noise of the engine and its exhaust remains within the noise limits.

The test procedure is very simple:

The boat should, under certain conditions, run at full speed within a distance of 25 meters of a microphone. The noise produced during this test may not exceed the following requirements:

Engine power (single engine) (in kW)  Maximum Sound Pressure Level = LpASmax (in dB)
 PN < 10  67
 10 < PN < 40  72
 PN > 40  75

For two-engine and multiple-engine units of all engine types an increase of the limits by 3 dB is allowed.

PN = rated engine power in kW at rated speed.
LpASmax = maximum sound level in dB.

Based on the noise test graphs you can determine if soundtesting is required for your vessel.

Explosion testing
Components within a gas well or a space in which fuel tanks, petrol engines or bilge pumps are situated, must be explosion-proof.

Fire safety testing

All fuel system components within a the machineker should pass a 2.5 minutes firetest. We are  is in staat om de hierbij behorende testen op een goede manier uit te voeren zodat de bouwer of leverancier van componenten zeker is dat de door geleverde producten aan de gestelde eisen voldoen.

Hatches and portlight testing
General information:

DMI can test run on hatches and ports for Design Category A, B, C and D. Zone I, IIa, IIb, III and IV may be applicable.

The standard test environment can be a window or doorway with a maximum outside dimensions of 870 by 870 mm.

Each hatch and portlight needs to be installed in a sturdy and water-resistant wooden frame. Try to use plywood for concrete formwork with a thickness of 22 mm or more.
The wooden plate (970 mm + / - 10mm x 970 mm + / - 10 mm.) needs an internal dimension of 870mm x 870mm

Hatches and portlights need to be installed with original installation materials.

At an extra cost of € 110,- excluding VAT, it is also possible DMI built the window into a plywood panel.
